Head Steward Decision
No onboard from #919 so can't judge if their stop was necessary or not.
What the stewards can see is:
- Car #17 tried to avoid rear-ending #919 by slightly going to the right. That's a reasonable move since there was no car on their right side for most of the braking zone.
- Car #36 has a huge gap in front of them in the middle before T1 and can move into that.. They left room on both sides for cars there, but couldn't anticipate #17 going slightly to the right to avoid car #919, because they couldn't really see car #919 having to slow down so much.
This is an unfortunate racing incident of where the track goes from wide to narrow accompanied with lap 1 chaos and check ups.
